About the Seminar In this seminar Andrew Grainger will be introducing the topic of trade facilitation as relevant to supply chain security and port operations. He will share his experience of regulatory complexity that governs compliance operations at ports, including the use of information technology and electronic systems. He will also take a look at how governing rules and procedures can be improved to help accommodate better compliance operations between business and government stakeholders. In his presentation he will also consider the conflicting interests of stakeholders and obstacles to implementing trade facilitation principles. About the Speaker Dr Andrew Grainger is a recognised expert within the field of trade facilitation and a keen academic. Recent publications include work for the World Bank, European Parliament and the World Customs Journal. Andrew is the founding director of Trade Facilitation Consulting Ltd. He holds a PhD from Birkbeck College, University of London where he submitted his thesis on trade facilitation and supply chain management. Prior to setting up his own firm Andrew was a Deputy Director at SITPRO, the UK Trade Facilitation Agency. Other experiences include customs and trade consultancy with PricewaterhouseCoopers and freight forwarding in Germany and Southeast Asia. About the CTS Seminar Series The CTS seminar series aims to facilitate discussion on current research topics in the transport field. Seminars are held jointly with our colleagues in the Centre for Transport Studies at University College.
